Opening film: Gravity
The thrilling Sci-fi film GRAVITY is the opening film at BIFF
Alfonso Cuarons epic sci-fi thriller, with Oscar-winners George Clooney and Sandra Bullock, has the honor of opening this year's edition of the Bergen International Film Festival. The film opened earlier this year the Venice Film Festival to great success and great reviews.
GRAVITY is an ode to human survival, science triumphs and film's ability to take the viewer on a journey into the unknown. We look forward to giving the audience an unique experience, says the head of the festival, Tor Fosse.
The three-time Oscar-nominee Cuaron is known as a great storyteller with a unique ability to build and maintain excitement through long sequences. This is also the case with Gravity, with a 13 minute long opening sequence that takes your breath away. BIFF has previously shown Children of Men from the same director. Photo is by Emmanuel Lubezki, who has stood for photos in Terrence Malicks films, lsuch as THE TREE OF LIFE, THE NEW WORLD and TO THE WONDER, but also Tim Burton's SLEEPY HOLLOW and the Coen-brothers' BURN AFTER READING.
The opening will take place in KP1 at Bergen Kino the 23rd of October 18.00. This screening is Gravitys Scandinavian premiere.
