Quite possibly the best film of 2009
In a quiet neighbourhood in southwestern Sweden, human lives are played out under a bright, indifferent sun. People go about their lives in a world where everybody seems to wait for something to happen, but where nothing ever does.
A slowburning, meditative stroke of pure cinematic genius, BURROWING is a film that is hard to describe without resorting to hyperbole. This film is a bonafide masterpiece, and one of the greatest films of 2009 – regardless of genres and countries of origin.

Henrik Hellström is a Swedish writer and director, with a background in acting and theatre direction. BURROWING, which he co-wrote, co-directed and co-edited with Fredrik Wenzel, is his first feature film. Along with Wenzel and Kristian Bengtsson, he has since made BRODER DANIEL FOREVER (2009), a documentary about the Swedish band Broder Daniel.
Fredrik Wenzel first came to the attention of cinephiles as the director of photography and co-writer of FALKENBERG FAREWELL (2006). He then followed up as the DOP on BURROWING, which he also co-wrote, co-directed and co-edited with Henrik Hellström. The pair then went on to make BRODER DANIEL FOREVER (2009) - a documentary about the greatest Swedish band of all time, Broder Daniel - along with Kristian Bengtsson.
