The Better Angels
In a simple cabin in the idyllic, but harsh Indiana wilderness, Abraham Lincoln spends his childhood years. Young Abe is an introverted and sensitive boy who prefers immersing himself in his books to the physical labor he performs with his authoritative father. After his loving mother Nancy dies when he is nine years old, his father marries Sarah, a beautiful widow with three children. Though young Lincoln laments the loss of his biological mother, his father's new wife becomes an equally important figure in his life. A long-time apprentice of Terrence Malick, A.J. Edward has made his debut feature a poetic portrayal of the formative years of the 16th president of the United States.
