Anita and Andrés are in love. They want to move in together, marry and create their own family, but even though they've both passed 40, they still live with their parents and go to the same school which they have attended since childhood. Theirs is a life in limbo: They are mature enough to want an independent life, but emotionally and economically incapable of living on their own. Intimate and observational, THE GROWN-UPS displays the diversity of adults with Down Syndrome and documents how the Chilean society treats them as a homogeneous group of children.
