Glimpses from a shrinking world

Filmed in 23 countries across the globe, Ai Weiwei’s HUMAN FLOW translates the staggering statistics of the international refugee crisis into something which is possible to relate to. Cutting from almost abstract bird’s-eye views of tent camps to close-ups of families who’ve left behind all they know and own to journey into a risky future, the film forces us to change perspective. HUMAN FLOW is a film about what it means to be treated as a logistical problem and an economic burden – and what happens to society when we stop recognizing people in need as fellow human beings.
