German and sign language, side by side

Austria is one of the few countries in the world that counts sign language among its official languages. SEEING VOICES captures fragments from the lives of a group of hearing impaired Austrians and documents the beauty of their language and the challenges they face every day. Among the people we meet are the deaf politician Helene Jarmer, who is working to broaden the use and acceptance of sign language, and the Hagers, whose hearing impairment will inevitably affect the life of their newborn son.
