Embedded with AMISOM

MOGADISHU SOLDIER documents the day-to-day work of Burundian and Ugandan troops fighting against the radical islamist al-Shabaab militia in Somalia. The soldiers are a part of the African Union Mission to Somalia (AMISOM) and fight under the flag of the United Nations. This film is the result of Norwegian filmmaker Torstein Grude giving two of these soldiers a camera and telling them to document what they felt was important. The result is a uniquely intimate and fascinating look at the frontlines of the war on terror.
