Little Yi-Jie in the plastic sea

China is the world’s biggest importer of plastic waste and spread out across the vast country there are many cities whose economy is built up around the processing of such garbage. In one such city we meet eleven year old Yi-Jie, who despite being way past school age spends every day wading through a desert of plastic waste. The award-winning fly-on-the-wall-documentary PLASTIC CHINA is a stark and disheartening portrait of life on the bottom rung of the globalized consumer economy.
