Don't expect the unexpected - just sit back and enjoy the movie

THE HUMAN SURGE is the type of film that will have your brain working overtime to try to define what it just witnessed. Starting off with a cinema verité-like depiction of 25 year-old Exe who just lost his job, the film shifts between the mundane and the mysterious in a way which makes perfect sense on an intuitive plane, but which is frustratingly hard to make sense of. Featuring some of the year's most impressive tracking shots, Eduardo Williams' debut film brings to mind such great directors as Carlos Reygadas and Apichatpong Weerasethakul.
