Graham suffers from an extremely rare brain condition. A trauma suffered six months earlier has affected his memory: he can no longer remember anything that occurred more than ten minutes ago. Irène, in love with Graham, suggests she will remember everything for both of them, whilst waiting for him to recover his memory. But that is taking its time. Although the character’s amnesia plays a key role in the film, it’s only one fictional way in talking about love. For if it is true that being in love and maintaining this emotion over time, is, above all, about constructing a mutual history, how could Graham love Irène if every day is the first day, every time, the first time? Highly physical and sensual, Novo captures all the small change of intimacy.
