The BIFF-audience will remember Bakhtiar Khudojnazarov’s beautiful LUNA PAPA, which won the BIFF 2000 Jury First Prize. This year he’s back with a film about three boys from the Crimean seashore waiting out time between graduation and obligatory army service. One day the boys spot a Gucci suit in a shop window and dream of somehow obtaining it. To them it represents guaranteed success in life. And they end up getting it.THE SUIT is a beautiful film from a beautiful city.
Bakhtiar Khudojnazarov (born 1965 in Dushanbe) worked as an assistant director and as a radio journalist. I 1989 he graduated in directing from Moscow’s VGIK film school, where he among others shot the shorts JOKERS (1986) and HUNTING WITH DOGS (1987). His feature debut BROTHER (1991) received several awards at film festivals. His co-production film KOSH BA KOSH (1993), attracted enormous attention, and received a Silver Lion at the Venice IFF.
