Ong-Bak: Muay Thai Warrior
ONG-BAK: MUAY THAI WARRIOR has left audiences breathless during previous festival screenings. This ultimate martial arts action film is even more impressive considering that no special effects, trampolines and ropes were used to enhance the quality of the action sequences. With flexibility and ferocity protagonist Boonting has to fight his way through a range of opponents to recover a stolen Buddah-statue. Even with the classic action ingredients: Young warrior fighting for a just cause, a grumpy master of the art of fighting, a beautiful woman in distress, and an evil nemesis, ONG-BAK: MUAY THAI WARRIOR is unlike anything you've seen on the big screen.
Prachya Pinkaew started his career as a music video director in the early 1990s. As a director and a producer he has specialized in making Thai versions of Hollywood-style films. He has made a sing-along romantic musical, a vampire film and horror-movies before turning to the martial arts genre with ONG-BAK: MUAY THAI WARRIOR. ONG-BAK already has a massive crowd of fans and fanpages on the internet dedicated to the film, and is Pinkaews international breakthrough.
