The younger son of a family has died in an accident in their home yard. The surviving members of the family try to find a way forward in the midst of inconsolable sorrow. As the grieving mother sinks into deep mourning, the running of the family´s everyday routines becomes the father´s responsibility. And the surviving son feels he has lost not only his little brother but his parents, too. The uncomprehending attitude of those near them makes the family´s situation even more difficult.
Kari Paljakka has mostly been working as a film producer during the recent years, but has also directed for television. FOR THE LIVING AND THE DEAD is his feature film debut.
