Medical doctor Annika and her 17-year-old daughter Saga have just moved to a small village in the north of Sweden, where Annika will work at the local hospital. The village, with its seemingly endless polar night, looks just as boring as Saga had envisioned. But things are amiss in the biting cold. Annika soon realizes that something's not right with the hospital, and the little community is struck by mysterious deaths and accidents.
