Magnus grew up with weak lungs and the impression that he could die at any moment. He doesn’t die, but this detachment from life stays with him into adulthood. His father is a charismatic pornographer who has had little contact with his family. When Magnus attempts suicide the father returns, hoping to show Magnus that life is worth living. He believes he can do this by supplying his son with drugs, alcohol and whores. The son and father find that they share very similar thoughts about life…
Kadri Kõusaar was born in 1980 and has already a long list of accomplishments, as a journalist, writer, film critic, painter and as a radio DJ. MAGNUS is her debut film. Kõusaar is one of the few young women who have been able to make films in Estonia. The film is considered the first independently produced movie in Estonia.
