ORIGINAL TITLE:
Ji jie hao
Kina / 2007 / 122 min

Feng Xiaofeng
A strong and highly succesfull war epic – billed as China's first non-propaganda war film

THE ASSEMBLY tells the story of Gu Zidi, commander of a small troop of soldiers ordered to hold off the advancing nationalist troops while the rest of the company has time to retreat. Brilliant action scenes combined with a strong humanist story of the treatment of soldiers after the revolution, makes THE ASSEMBLY one of the best war movies of the last decade.
