When word gets out that a Russian gangster is sitting on a lucrative real estate scam, the various parts of the London underworld are eager to get their share. And as the saying goes, too many ruthless criminals spoil the broth. Guy Ritchie has returned to his field of expertise – funny, spectacular and violent gangster films. ROCKNROLLA is a film that sits quaintly beside his two modern classics LOCK, STOCK AND TWO SMOKING BARRELLS and SNATCH. You don't want to miss this one.
Guy Ritchie’s feature film debut LOCK, STOCK AND TWO SMOKING BARRELS (1998) took both Britain and the rest of the world by storm, and proved that there was still life in the old British gangster movie. Ritchie followed up with SNATCH in 2002, a film built on the same blueprint as its predecessor, but funnier, more expensive and filled with more Hollywood A-listers. Then he married Madonna, for whom he made music videos and short films. Then came feature films SWEPT AWAY (2002) and REVOLVER (2005), none of which managed to thrill either the critics or the audience on the same level as his two first films. ROCKNROLLA is Ritchie’s fifth feature film and a spectacular return to form.
