Pray the Devil Back to Hell
PRAY THE DEVIL BACK TO HELL tells the story of Leymah Gbowee and her campaign to have Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf elected president of Liberia. Gbowee was one of hundreds of thousands of Liberian women tired of the constant chaos and terror ravaging their country. Along with an ever-growing group of volunteering women, Gbowee campaigned to have her country elect Africa's first female head of state. PRAY THE DEVIL BACK TO HELL is part documentary film and part political movement – an affirmation of empowerment through peaceful means.
Virginia "Gini" Reticker made her first documentary film in 1994 with HEART OF THE MATTER. Since then, she has directed and produced several documentaries, both for television and theatrical release. Many of her films, such as LIVE NUDE GIRLS UNITE! (2000) focus on feminism. PRAY THE DEVIL BACK TO HELL is her fourth film as director.
