A group of criminals raid Ofelias farmhouse, straps a bomb around her neck and demands 15 million pesos. PVC-1 is based on a real story, which makes this frighteningly realistic portrayal of a horrible blackmail attempt even more frightening. The whole movie is shot in one take, which adds to the terrifying situation of Ofelia and her family's race against time. Director Stathoulopoulos mans the camera himself, making the audience both observers, participants and victims.
Spiros Stathoulopoulos was born in Greece, but moved to Colombia at an early age. He got international recognition for the short DIMENSION (1992), which he made when he was fourteen. He later served in the Greek army and studied film in Los Angeles. PVC-1 is his first feature length film.
