John Crowley's BOY A is a strong and unforgettable film experience. Young "Jack" is released from youth detention center after many years. Jack is not his real name, but he needs a new identity after a horrible crime he committed when he was 12. In the beginning it looks like Jack will manage to build his life anew, but the past is not easy to leave behind.
John Crowley was born in Cork, Ireland, and began his career as a theatre director. He made his feature film debut directing INTERMISSION in 2003, which won the Douglas Hickox Award at the British Independent Film Awards for best debut director. BOY A is his second feature. His recently completed third feature, IS THERE ANYBODY THERE? (2008), premiered at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival.
