Discoveries of a Marionette

ORIGINAL TITLE:
Marionettens oppdagelser
Norge / 2008 / 73 min
DIRECTOR:
Bjarte Mørner Tveit
The legacy of a sailor

There has always been a distance between Bjarte and his grandfather, the great patriarch Alf Mørner. This is about to change when Alf gives his grandson the strange gift of countless metal cans containing 8 mm films. In these films Bjarte finds the hidden stories of Alf's adventurous past. But the gift is also a commitment, and Bjarte soon embarks on a voyage of his own.

DISCOVERIES OF A MARIONETTE is a poetic and special documentary film. It alters between warm, personal stories, philosophical ideas of eternal themes and heartbreaking episodes. The film sees Alf Mørner lead us on a melancholic, humorous and unforeseen expedition through life, death, the sea and in the end: eternity. Nothing less.
