Sergio Leone meets Indiana Jones in 1930s Manchuria

THE GOOD THE BAD AND THE WEIRD is what you get when you combine an INDIANA JONES-plot, spaghetti western sensibilities, classical hong kong-action and a story about a thief, a hitman and a bounty hunter trying to snatch a buried treasure from out of the hands of the Japanese army. Set in 1930s Japanese-occupied Manchuria, the film is a no holds barred romp through both genre clichés and the vast Manchurian desert plains. The resulting film is quite possibly the fastest moving and most action packed western ever made.

Kim Jee-woon

Kim Ji-woon is a south korean director who is popular among critics and audiences alike, both in his native country and the world as such. Kim's films are often based on genre clichés, but the execution is always filled with unpredictable twists and turns. Among his films we find such works as THE QUIET FAMILY (1998), THE FOUL KING (2000), 3 EXTREMES II (2002), A TALE OF TWO SISTERS(2003) og A BITTERWEET LIFE (2005).
