A thorn in the soft underbelly of the Russian bear

As the night changed from the 7th to the 8th of October in 2008 Georgian forces started to shell “Russian” territories in South Ossetia. Georgia claimed that this was their response to Russian aggression. The Russians responded in kind and flattened any Georgian resistance. Olga Konskaya and Andrei Nekrasov followed the war from both sides of the border. We follow their efforts to document how Russia is now systematically covering their human rights abuses through lies, threats and propaganda.

Andrei Nekrasov & Olga Konskaya

Andrei Nekrasov has become a renowned dissident in Russia. He has been in the movie industry for well over 20 years and has produced a number of critical movies and documentaries. Lately his focus has been on his own country, Russia. In 2007 he came out with REBELLION: THE LITVINENKO CASE which seeks to explain the life and death of Alexander Litvinenko, another prominent Russian dissident. This documentary is still forbidden to screen in Russia. In addition to moviemaking Nekrasov has also written and produced a number of theater plays.
