"Most of us have a bag of tricks. Buck has an arsenal."

Dan "Buck" Brannaman, the real life inspiration for the titular character in Robert Redford's THE HORSE WHISPERER. Brannaman's seemingly supernatural talent for communicating with horses consists of equal amounts of intuition, psychology and zen-like contemplation. BUCK won the audience documentary award during this year's Sundance Film Festival, and will no doubt be one of the most beloved films in Bergen this year. With a film about taming horses, first time director Cindy Meehl reveals more about the human condition than most directors do through the span of their whole careers.

Following studies at the Marymount Manhattan College and The National Academy Museum and School of Fine Arts, Cindy Meehl made her career as a fashion designer. Initially inexperienced as a filmmaker, it was the circumstantial meeting with Buck Brannaman that inspired her to conceptualise, direct and co-produce the biopic documentary BUCK, which has already won her the Documentary Competition Audience Award at Sundance.
