Christopher and His Kind
CHRISTOPHER AND HIS KIND is the filmatisation of Christopher Isherwood's autobiography. We start out in 1931, as our man decides to leave England for Berlin, in order to live out his sexuality under somewhat tolerable conditions. The Berlin Isherwood arrives in is the decadent and angstridden Berlin of the interwar period; despite the song and laughter, there is a creeping, all-pervasive sense of doom. Current "Doctor Who"-star Matt Smith shines as Isherwood in this stylized and humorous film of a darkly fascinating era.
Geoffrey Sax began his career in British television, directing for the BBC and ITV, before moving to the United States to direct a number of TV-films and mini series. His first theatrical release was WHITE NOISE (2005), followed by STORMBREAKER (2006) and FRANKIE & ALICE (2010). Sax has been nominated for a BAFTA-award on five occasions, winning one in 1991 for the comedy series THE NEW STATESMAN.
