VLAST (POWER) charts the rise and fall of Russian oil billionaire Michail Khodorkovsky. Khodorkovsky rose to prominence and wealth when the Soviet Union collapsed and left behind an economic, ideological and political vacuum. As the owner of oil giant Yukos, he championed a western style of management, and argued for a more open and democratic Russia. When Khodorkovsky was arrested and accused with tax fraud in 2003, it was widely assumed that the authorities had ulterior motives. VLAST (POWER) is a disturbing look at a modern Russia, in which an increasing amount of power rests in a decreasing amount of hands.
