The Queen of Versailles

The Queen of Versailles

/ /
Fall from a height.

When we first meet them, David Siegel and his 30 years younger wife Jackie, the former Miss Florida, are on the brink of moving. They’re feeling a bit squeezed in their 26,000-square-foot mansion, and are building a home more than three times as big – modelled on the Palace of Versailles. Then the 2008 financial crisis hits, and the future no longer looks quite as gilded. THE QUEEN OF VERSAILLES gives a fascinating picture of what it’s like to be on the top when everything begins to slide.

LAUREN GREENFIELD (born 1966) is an American artist, documentary photographer, and documentary filmmaker. She has published three monographs of her photographic work and directed a number of short films, in addition to the feature length THIN (2006) and the price winning THE QUEEN OF VERSAILLES (2012).
