Marina Abramovic: The Artist is Present
Marina Abramović is often hailed as ”the grandmother of performance art”, due to her central role in shaping both the perception of what a work of performance can – and should – entail. MARINA ABRAMOVIĆ – THE ARTIST IS PRESENT is a portrait of a pioneering artist, filmed during the Museum of Modern Art’s vast retrospective of her work in 2010. Using the performative installation where Abramović sat immobile for 736 hours and 30 minutes as its focal point, this documentary does a remarkable job of capturing the artist’s intensity.
