In the Shadow of a Man
The Arab Spring made it apparent that Egypt is going through a time of great social upheaval. IN THE SHADOW OF A MAN examines how Egyptian women reflect on the traditional relationship between the sexes in light of the wave of protest and activism that has recently swept the country. The female interviewees all agree that women should be given rights equal to those of men, but the fact that none of them dare say this while their husbands are around, proves that they still have a long road ahead of them.
