Heart-wrenching documentary on honor killings in present day England

Kurdish Banaz was married off to a much older man in London, and after a prolonged period of grotesque mistreatment, she ran off to tell the British police that she feared her family. Shortly thereafter she disappeared. BANAZ - A LOVE STORY is a suspense-filled crime story about honor killings, which focuses on society's failing safety net. Activist filmmaker Deeyah has a lot on her heart, and is undoubtedly a talented storyteller, a fact which the film's multiple awards are a testament to.

Deeyah Khan

Better known in Norway under the name Deepika Thathaal (1977), DEEYAH was a successful performing artist during the nineties. Today she is based in England where she and her production company Fuuse focuses on women's rights through music, films and activism.
