NAKED HARBOUR is a film about love in modern day Finland. Director Aku Louhimies presents us with a cast of eight characters who although their stories remain largely unconnected, all have one fundamental thing in common: They are all desperate to be loved. The fact that they have, at best, a very vague idea of how to go about succeeding in this endeavour provides the film with a dramatic nerve which is at once both highly entertaining and eerily recognizable.
AKU LOUHIMIES (1968) has risen to the top echelon of Finnish movie directors. He has directed both critically acclaimed television series and eight feature films, among them the Nordic Award-winning FROZEN LAND (2005).
