Hayao Miyazaki’s latest – and allegedly last – film is a historical drama about Jiro Hirokoshi, the engineer who designed several of the most important fighter planes used by Japan during World War II. It is a film about a man who was oblivious as to what his scientific genius was ultimately in service of, and a love story set against a period in Japan’s history where the nation was gearing up for a catastrophic war. Like all of Miyazaki’s movies, it’s a fabulously animated film which will leave audiences longing for more.
Through a career that has spanned over fifty years, HAYAO MIYAZAKI has attained international acclaim as the maker of widely praised anime feature films. Along with Isao Takahata he has co-founded Studio Ghibli.
