The Great Hip Hop Hoax
THE GREAT HIP HOP HOAX is the story of two Scottish rappers who were ridiculed at record company auditions and nicknamed 'the rapping Proclaimers'. Tired of being unsuccessful, they reinvented themselves as Californians, and suddenly their popularity skyrocketed, resulting in a contract with Sony. Amid MTV performances, debauched celebrity shindigs and performances for Eminem's UK tour, the duo had to fake an American accent every waking hour. This highly entertaining documentary is the unraveling of the lie that both created and cost them their careers.
