Mea Maxima Culpa: Silence in the House of God
In MEA MAXIMA CULPA award-winning American documentarist Alex Gibney takes on the subject of child molestation within the Catholic Church. Gibney tells the story of four deaf men who were among the 200 children who were sexually molested by a Milwaukee priest. As the four men speak out against father Lawrence Murphy and their local church, it gradually becomes clear that while the Vatican knew about the grotesque case, their byzantine bureaucracy – or something more sinister – prevented them from doing anything about it.
ALEX GIBNEY has directed and produced numerous films for over 30 years. His film TAXI TO THE DARK SIDE (2007) was the winner of the 2007 Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature.
