MONSOON SHOOTOUT is a "hindi-noir" film which explores the consequences of three different choices made by the young inexperienced policeman Adi, while facing a suspected axe murderer in a dead end alley. Director Amit Kumar has cited Robert Enricos short film AN OCCURENCE AT OWL CREEK BRIDGE (1962) as the primary source of inspiration for this movie about human decision-making. MONSOON SHOOTOUT mixes Bollywood crime drama with arthouse cinema to make a highly unique viewing experience.
In 2003 Amit Kumar directed the short THE BYPASS. MONSOON SHOOTOUT is his feature film debut.
