Based on the sheer volume of vampire stories created for film and tv in the last 20 years, one would assume every variation on this theme has already been explored. However, WHAT WE DO IN THE SHADOWS provides both a fresh take and some much needed satire on a genre that is famous for taking itself way too seriously. Part “Cribs”, part reality series, the film initiates us into the mysterious, circumstantial and hilarious goings-on of a New Zealand vampire collective.
