As they provide a more environmentally friendly power production than gas-, oil- and coal-driven power plants, river dams remain largely uncontroversial, but the technology is not entirely green. DAMNATION shows that dams also have drastic impact on the balance of nature. The spawning cycles of fish - and thus in some cases whole communities of people - are often dependent on the natural flow of rivers and ecosystems. These can be greatly disrupted, if not outright destroyed, by the building of dams.
