What if Iran was a secular democracy? Director Mehran Tamadon has planned an experiment: He wants to create a social utopia within the walls of his family's country house by inviting four supporters of the Iranian regime. The idea is to convince these religious conservatives of the benefits of a pluralistic and secular society. He and the regime supporters discuss issues such as gender equality, abortion, and freedom of press. Although many of the issues seem hardly negotiable at all, IRANIAN is a fascinating exploration of a highly temporary Iranian secularism.
