Newly-divorced Marie is in her late thirties, and spends most of her time and energy at work for the Norwegian Metrology Service, a government agency tasked with making sure all Norwegian measuring equipment correspond with international standards. But when her employer sends her to Paris for an international kilo seminar, she meets her French colleague Pi, and soon she is forced to reassess the standards with which she measures her life. With 1001 GRAMS Bent Hamer has made an offbeat and charming film, which demonstrates why he is known as the preeminent stylist of contemporary Norwegian cinema.
