... and never the twain shall meet

Born into Oslo’s Pakistani community, small time gangster Omar is beholden to strict rules of honour and conduct, but at the same time he is getting accustomed to a decidedly Scandinavian way of living through his relationship with his Norwegian girlfriend. One day a stranger claims to have seen Omar’s sister Amina at a clinic in Oslo. The only problem is – Amina died nine years ago in an honour killing, after having fled her own wedding in Pakistan. Tasked with tracking down Amina on behalf of his family, Omar is forced to confront the opposing values of the two worlds he inhabits. An intense and entertaining thriller, HARAM also spotlights the misogyny and the warped concepts of honour found in Norway’s Pakistani community.

Meet director Ulrik Imtiaz Rolfsen at both screenings October 1.
