In rural Afghanistan the children who shepherd the sheep know the rules very well – especially the one that says girls and boys do not play together. Eleven-year-old Sediqa nonetheless dreams about learning to use a sling like the boys do, and for this she has become the subject of gossip among the other girls. One day she meets Qodrat. He is trying to escape the gossip about his mother, who married an older man with three wives. WOLF AND SHEEP tells the story of their frail but beautiful friendship and paints a stark picture of the culture that condemns it.
