Witchful thinking

Equal parts period piece, arthouse drama and horror movie, Robert Eggers’ THE WITCH was one of the most talked about films in Sundance last year. Set in early 17th century New England, the film follows a family of seven who depart from their local community to settle on a small secluded farm in the outskirts of a bleak and mysterious forest. And when the crops fail and one of the children goes missing in the woods, the family starts to realize that there is a malevolent presence lurking among the trees.
