CHEMSEX portrays a community which some see as a symbol of sexual liberation and others a modern-day manifestation of Sodom and Gomorrah turned up to eleven. In London, lax drug laws and the rise of dating apps has created an environment where narcotic substances go hand in hand with anonymous and often unprotected sex. Examining this subculture, directors Fairman and Gogarty touch on subjects such as HIV, loneliness, alienation and intimacy, and ask whether society at large is being tolerant or merely turning a blind eye.
