In a Beduin society in southern Israel, Jalila is planning her husband's marriage to his second wife. Far from happy with the situation, things get worse when she discovers that their 18-year-old daughter is having an affair with a boy at school. In their traditional society this simply does not fly, and her husband Suliman sets out to right the situation – no matter the cost to his daughter. Written and directed by Jewish filmmaker Elite Zexer, and filmed with a mixed Jewish and Arab crew, SAND STORM is a critique of the patriarchal structures which unite the people of the Middle East.
Elite Zexer (Israel, 1980) SAND STORM is Elite Zexer’s first feature length film.
