Kenyan-born Beryl Magoko was pressured into female genital mutilation as a child, thinking it a rite of passage. As an adult living in Germany she learns that the procedure can be surgically reversed but is unable to decide whether she wants to or not. IN SEARCH… documents her quest to make up her mind, as she consults a group of mutilated women in Africa and Europe about their experiences and their views on how to best come to grips with what has been done to them. The result is a deeply personal and positive film about a complex and sensitive issue.
The screening on Friday 27 September at 18:00 is a free screening in collaboration with Norec. Pick up a ticket in one of the kiosks at Bergen Kino. Max 2 tickets per person.
