A young boy is shot in the head by a classmate after asking him to be his Valentine. The citizens of Oxnard, California are divided in their response to this heinous crime. Some of the students' former teachers openly attribute what they see as the justified actions of the killer to the victim's provocative transgendered identity. VALENTINE ROAD is the compelling story of children committing adult crimes and our continued ineptitude to deal with it. Looming in the background is the small community's rank homophobia, a biased jury and America's stagnant arms policy.
VALENTINE ROAD is MARTA CUNNINGHAM's first feature film, though she has several other projects currently in pre-production. She has formerly worked as an actress, writer, choreographer and dancer.
