K2 is not the tallest mountain in the world, but among mountain climbers it is known as the most challenging. THE SUMMIT tells the story of the notorious 2008 K2 expedition, where 25 well-prepared veteran climbers went up the mountain and only 14 returned alive. Mixing documentary footage with remarkably believable recreations, director Nick Ryan attempts to set the record straight about the expedition, while at the same time making an exhilarating and highly visceral film about mountain climbing.
NICK RYAN founded the production company Image Now Films in 1995, and works as a director, screenwriter and producer. Both his short film A LONELY SKY (2006) and THE GERMAN (2008) are award-winning features.
