Marriage as a one-way street

Israeli law dictates that matters pertaining to marriage fall under the jurisdiction of the rabbinical courts. And when it comes to questions of divorce, the man has the last word in whether a married couple shall part ways or not. Needless to say, this results in a fair share of problems for modern would-be independent women. A stylish and quietly intense drama, GETT tells the story of Viviane who is desperately trying to divorce her husband Elisha in accordance with the strict patriarchal laws.
