The Punk Singer
The "Riot Grrrl" movement of the early 1990s saw the emergence of several bands combining feminist values and pure punk energy. Among the most influental acts were Bikini Kill, fronted by the charismatic and uncompromising Kathleen Hanna. After Bikini Kill, she co-founded the dance-punk trio Le Tigre, but since 2005 Hanna has withdrawn from the music scene, to the surprise of fans and critics alike. THE PUNK SINGER offers an honest account of the "Riot Grrrl" movement and its most enduring icon.
