We Come As Friends
It's no wonder Hubert Sauper won the prize for cinematic bravery at the Sundance Film Festival this year. A homemade airplane of tin and canvas takes him where he wants in Sudan while the country is in the process of dividing into two nations in 2011. On his journey, he meets everything from UN peacekeepers and Chinese oil workers to American evangelists and Sudanese warlords. WE COME AS FRIENDS takes us into a reality full of contrasts and conflicts - not to mention a country marked by globalization, colonialism, imperialism and (un)holy wars.
Meet director Hubert Sauper at all screenings during BIFF!
